Description

105 years from today, the United States will invade a country on humanity's second planet - the Independent (United) Colonies of Mars.  Why?  The official reason - because the Mars government refuses to recognize "international" copyright laws - written by a US dominated UN, of course.  As it is now, the United States will be even more so then - a corporate oligarchy controlled by a few elites who hate, more than anything, competition from entrepreneurs, designers, artists - content creators and innovators of any kind, who refuse to treat ideas as a form of property and instead, share them freely with society.

The United States of the future will be a country that produces nothing - but traffics in the licensing and sale of ideas stolen by corporations from individuals [who are not allowed to "own" or "share" anything they create].  On Earth, the US uses it's military power to crush any nation who refuses to give all "intellectual property" it's people create to the multinationals that control the US government - in the name of protecting copyright from pirates, of course.  The US then supports it's military and economy by selling back the ideas it took from other people at extreme prices and under complex licensing schemes.

Yet on Mars, innovation remains unchecked.  In defiance of the United States, the IUC has offered to share the ideas that drive their technology and scientific innovation with certain countries on Earth [those tired of taking abuse from the United States over copyright] - at no cost.  Enraged, the United States stretched it's military might out into the solar system to slaughter anyone who dares to share their creations and ideas for free.

After all, it's the wet dream of today's MPAA/RIAA to butcher innocent people in the name of copyright, isn't it?  For the next 105 years, when the multinationals scream and whine about copyright, the people of America will let them have whatever they want - until they are cheering into digital glasses as they watch tanks funded by Universal Studios blow up children on Mars who's "crime" was printing action figures they created themselves without paying for a license.

Interesting (not too difficult to imagine) science fiction.  Guess we really should pay attention to things like net neutrality.
